Walgreens: Flagler Street in Miami, Florida

Revive a historic building for the City of Miami, while accommodating a modern interior layout for our client.

Nestled in the heart of Little Havana in Miami, Florida was the grand old Firestone Building. With much interest from Walgreens and sincere interest from the city to preserve this structure, we went to work to make this vision a reality. In exchange for extensive study of the structure and a preservation of its main architectural elements and original building foot print, the city agreed to allow Omni to rework the building’s top signage from “Firestone,” to “Walgreens.” This sign can be seen from downtown Miami as well as South Beach and has helped to renew a landmark for years to come. In 2004 Omni received the Dade Heritage Trust Historic Preservation Award for the restoration of this building.
